Here in Indiana I know we get the rep that our landscape is pretty boring. Yes, there are a lot of cornfields, but there are also some hidden gems. In this blog post I am going to show you some of my favorite spots for your Indiana Engagement Photoshoot!
Most of these are just within an hour drive of downtown Indianapolis. If you are looking to stray away from a typical field, then this is the list for you!
This nature park is in Greencastle, IN. This is about an hour west of Indianapolis off of I70. I believe this park used to be a rock quarry. It has many walking trails and has the best views at sunset. If you are looking to add a more adventurous look into your engagement photos, then I highly recommend this spot.
If you love waterfalls and you want to feel like Indiana Jones for an evening, then I highly recommend Cataract Falls! This is actually an Indiana State Park so there will be a fee to get to the falls. Cataract has two waterfalls; the Upper Falls & the Lower Falls. The Upper Falls is quite a hike so bring the appropriate footwear. I would say that the Lower Falls are best for photos, but it tends to be the most popular so be prepared for a crowd of people.
This precious gem is located on Monroe Lake down in Bloomington. There is not a fee to enter this trail, but there is limited parking. If you are looking for an adventurous hike that has gorgeous views, then this location is for you! This trail is a 2 mi hike round-trip so bring comfortable shoes. There are a lot of spots along the way to the end that provide the perfect backdrop for your photos. At the end of the trail you are greeted with the shoreline of Monroe Lake. This one is probably my favorite to date!
At this point, you see there is a pattern here. I am a granola girl so I love a good park. I have pretty much photographed all the big ones in Indiana so here is a list of my favorites:
Just remember that all of the state parks do require a fee for entry. Your Indiana engagement photoshoot can be more creative when you think outside the box!
